Boys' Basketball
After finishing 2008-2009 with a 16-13 record, the young Chicago Hope Academy basketball program looks to blossom into a perennial state contender at the 1A level. With only two seniors graduating from last years' squad and only one returning senior on this edition of the Eagles, there is a great promise in this young group. Freshman Jalen James joins Sophomores Willie Conner and Torrance Johnson and Juniors Ike Muzikowski and Anthony Taylor in a very athletic starting lineup. Lone senior Trevor James provides offensive firepower off the bench. With some early victories over much larger schools, the Eagles look to build the confidence and consistency necessary to fulfill that promise and take their place among the top contenders in the state.
In this, only the third varsity season for the Eagles, you'll find interesting matchups aplenty: rivalries with CPC opponents CICS-Ellison and Providence-St. Mel, a rematch with IHSA tournament foe Chicago Academy of Scholastic Achievement, and matchups with much larger schools like Northside College Prep, Evergreen Park, and Dundee-Crown, among others. Look for the Eagles at home this season at Attack Athletics, one of the finest facilities in the country for a high school team and offseason home to a number of NBA stars. Attack is located at Harrison and Washtenaw, just across from Altgeld Park.
